VELDA VIVIAN BROWN “JENNINGS” SANDERS
VELDA V. SANDERS Sanders, Velda V., 86, of Payette, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at her home in Payette. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette. Published in Idaho Statesman, 16 October 2016.
MEMORIAL Velda Vivian Brown was born 08 April 1930, Roby, Fisher County, Texas to William Franklin Brown and Alma Mason Brown. Deceased 14 October 2016, Payette, Idaho at her home.. Her husband Don C. Sanders survives… her.
Velda grew up in East Texas, moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1942 with parents and siblings. She graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1947, and married Barry Dee Jennings, 29 May 1947, Phoenix, Arizona. Two children were born: Randall Bruce ‘Randy’ Jennings, deceased 2013, and Marilyn Joyce ‘Joy’ Jennings, of Payette, Idaho.
Velda and Barry moved to Wasco about 1965 where they lived until Barry passed in 1980. They later adopted sisters Jeanice and Priscilla.
Velda married William Joseph ‘Bud’ Cullen, and they lived in Wasco until his death in 1984. Velda married Richard Jennings, brother of Barry, 1997; they lived in Wasco until his death in 1999.
During the above years, Velda was active in her church, and raising her family in a Christian home. She loved her Lord, family and friends. Her cheerfulness will be missed but we know she is enjoying the comforts for Heaven and her days of peace with family in Heaven!

Predeceasing her in death were her parents, her husbands Barry Dee Jennings, “Bud” Cullen, and Richard Jennings; her son Randall Bruce Jennings, her daughter Pricilla Jennings Simpkins and grandson Joseph Simpkins; and her brother Woody Brown.
Velda and Don C. Sanders were married 06 June 2003 in Lindsay, Tulare County, California. They lived in Lindsay, CA until 2015 when they moved to Payette Idaho to be with her daughter “Joy” and her family.
Survivors include her husband Don Sanders; daughter ‘Joy’ Rayburn, granddaughter Sara Michelle [Clair] Johannes and 4 granddaughters; grandson Kevin Jennings [Stacey] and 2 children of Raleigh, NC; Jeanice Jennings of Wasco, CA; granddaughter Tonya and her 3 sons of Wasco, CA; grandson Michael Simpkins, son of Priscilla, of Pennsylvania; and sister Doris Rose of Rodeo, CA; several nieces and families.
Interment was 24 October 2016, Wasco Memorial Park, Wasco, Kern County, California. Wasco arrangements handled by Peters Funeral Home of Wasco, CA. Officiating was Rev. Dale Ross of Lindsay, CA.
