Obituary
Francisca Garza, 86, was born in Cameron, Texas to Armando and Leovarda Garza Martinez. Her family moved to Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico when she was four years old. Later, they moved to “La Lomita” where she grew up living a simple, tranquil, free, and joyful country life. As a teenager, she returned to the United States with two of her siblings to work in the fields and help their family financially. She was the third eldest of ten siblings.
On April 19, 1956, Francisca married the love of her life, Audencio Garza Sanchez. Together they moved to Wasco, California and its surrounding areas. They started a family and enjoyed yearly trips to Mexico. Francisca worked side-by-side with her husband in the fields and sometimes they migrated to other states for work. She was a devoted Catholic who regularly attended St. John’s the Evangelist Parish in Wasco, California.
Francisca was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Everyone who knew Francisca enjoyed her company, laughter, sincerity, her garden, sewing skills, and love. Everything she cooked or baked was always delicious and amazing. Her tamales, “papitas”, tortillas, and menudo were the best!
She had many endearing nicknames: Mami, Mamita Chula, Mi Cielo, Mama Quica, Mi Corazón, Cariño, Preciosa, Mi Reina, Mi Chaparrita, Grandma Kika, Guelita, Gueli, and Kika, just to mention a few. She was always loving and caring. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy! She enjoyed hearing from family near and far. She quickly learned how to use her cell phone and called everyone regularly.
Francisca is preceded in death by her parents; Armando and Leovarda Garza, brothers; Eufracio Garza, Armando Garza, Ramiro Garza and her sister, Socorro Sanchez Garza, and her loving husband Audencio Garza Sanchez. She is survived by her five children: Aurora Macias (Mando), Audencio Garza (Carmen), Nelisa Vega (Richard), Sergio Garza (Janiffer), and Erik Garza (Mariela). Also survived by her siblings: Aurora Sanchez Garza, Oralia Lozano Garza, Maria de los Angeles Gomez Garza, Amparo Garza Garza, y Guadalupe Garza. Additionally, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Francisca’s character was unmatched. She faced this world widowed, with five children by the age of 44, yet she had the favor of the Lord, whom she cherished. She was a mother to countless cousins, nieces, and nephews over the years. Her faith was distributed to all who she came in contact with, truly being a daughter of Christ. She was a natural nurturer, a chef, teacher, defender, protector, lover of music, a truly rare extraordinary soul, and our sunshine. Francisca loved our Lord Jesus Christ and prayed for all her loved ones daily. She will be missed tremendously and never forgotten. We will always love her. She was an inspiration to all!
Francisca was a “Proverbs 31 woman”: “A wife of noble character and worth far more than rubies. Her husband had full confidence in her. She brought him good, not harm, all the days of her life.....”
2 Cori 2 Corinthians 5:8 (New King James Version)
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from
the body and to be present with the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:8 (The Message Version) says,
“For we know that when these bodies of ours are taken from
this world, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in
heaven- God made, and we will never have to be in pain again.
We have been given a glimpse of Heaven, our true home,
perfect in our resurrection bodies!”
