Obituary

Max F Newcomb

Max Newcomb, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed from this life and went to be with our loving Heavenly Father on September 14, 2021.

Max was born on October 2, 1941 to James Dodson Newcomb and Martha Hazel (Ulmer) Newcomb in Benton Arkansas.

In his early years, he loved playing sports and spending time with his siblings and cousins. He was a member of two junior high school football teams who were undefeated. He also played on the 1960 Wasco High football team who were undefeated and won the championship.

In the summer of 1960 he moved to Wasco, California with his family. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Linda LouAnn Frantz. They were married on June 16, 1962, shortly after his graduation from Wasco Union High School. They were married for over 59 years.

Max was a delivery truck driver for over 30 years. He first started working for Standard Oil, and went to Petrolane for over 23 years and then with Cummings Vacuum Service. In 1987 he won the Bobcat Driver of the Year Award from the Western Liquid Gas Association.

During his free time, Max loved to volunteer at his church, First Assembly of God. He served in many capacities. But his favorite was being a Commander with Royal Rangers. He loved coaching his sons in Little League as well. He would volunteer wherever and whenever needed. One of the areas he gave tirelessly were the concession stands for Little League, Babe Ruth and the Wasco High Band.

In later years he would always lend a hand with the businesses that his sons had. First with Kasey in the electrical field, and then later on with Kevin at Hoyett’s. He would be seen helping out, and or hanging out with the people of Wasco in a booth.

His kids called him Dad or Daddy; his grandkids called him Papa. He truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play soccer, football, basketball, swimming and lots of baseball. He also went to anything they were involved with that he could.

He always looked forward to birthday and holiday celebrations. He loved his family time.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Newcomb of 59 years. His children, Lisa and Richard Fabrie, Kevin and Christie Newcomb, Lori and Robert Mosley, and Kasey and Vanessa Newcomb; his sister, Sondra and Nathan Curtis; his grandchildren, Chris Fabrie, Colby and Katy Fabrie, Cyle and Alli Fabrie, Bradley Newcomb, Tyler Newcomb, Amanda and Garrett Bloomhof, Hannah Mosley, Aaron, Ryan and Landon Newcomb. He has two great granddaughters, Norah Fabrie and Maxwell Fabrie, and one great grandson, Charlie Fabrie.

He has many surviving nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dodson and Hazel Newcomb, and his brother, Terrell Newcomb.

His smile will live on in our hearts. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
