SHARON MOZINGO THOMAS RUNYAN
6/16/43-7/25/21
Sharon Ann Runyan, was born June 16, 1943 and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 25, 2021 after a short illness. A Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 30 at 11:00 at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93308.

Sharon was the 3rd child born to Lavada and Russell Mozingo in Gainseville, TX. At the age of four she and her family moved to California, settling in Wasco. She graduated from Wasco High School in 1961 and married Kenneth Thomas shortly thereafter. Their union produced three children who were the light of her life and lasted 27 years. In 1990, Sharon married Steve Runyan and they were married 19 years.

In high school, Sharon took business classes and began her career as a secretary for Production Credit Association after graduation. Throughout the next 40 years or so she worked diligently, eventually becoming Vice President of Operations in the Bakersfield office before taking early retirement. Once she retired, she finished her college education and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business from CSUB and settled into and relished her role as Grandma “Run Run” to her 3 grandchildren.

While on break from working in the late 60’s, Sharon discovered Bible Study Fellowship. She often talked about BSF and taking her daughters with her to attend. She loved it and the way it taught her to study the Bible. After retirement, she once again began attending BSF. In 1999 she switched from the night class to the day class, eventually becoming an Administrative Leader, where she served her Lord faithfully until the day she died.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, JR, Patsy, and Dannie (Margaret), as well as her only son, Mitchell. She is survived by her daughters Michelle Huckaby (Jeff) and Melissa Landis (Brian), daughter-in-law, Valerie, grandsons Matthew (Morgan) and Austin, granddaughter, Kari, great grandson, Owen, a new great grandson due in October, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Because of her passion for Bible Study and her legacy of deep faith in Jesus Christ, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to BSF International at www.bsfinternational.org.
