Obituary for David C. Willhite

David was born in Gravette, Arkansas to Vernie and Mable Willhite. He was the youngest of three children, two sisters, Betty and Ruby. At an early age, he and his family moved to Wasco, California where he grew up. He attended local schools and graduated from Wasco High School with the Class of 1954. After High School, he joined the Army. David married on December 31, 1954 to Betty Ann Willhite. They were married for over 61 years before her passing. For over 80 years he has been a devoted Father,… Grandfather and great-Grandfather. At the time of their marriage, he was serving in the US Army and was transferred to Germany. Later his wife was able to join him there. They returned to Wasco and then latter settled in Bakersfield.
Upon returning to the states from the Army, he went to work with his Dad on ranches and farms around Wasco. He then went to work and retired as a Deputy Sheriff for the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
David and Betty had four sons, Randy (Micky), Buck (Dru), Scott (Debbie) and Mark (Martha). Later in life they adopted and daughter Tammy. They were blessed with 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is survived by his four sons, Randy, Buck, Scott, and Mark; Daughter, Tammy; his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents Vernie and Mable, and two sisters Betty and Ruby.
David was a member of the LDS Church, Brimhall Ward. The family would like to thank them for their love, prayers, and support for him. Also, they would like to thank the staff at Westchester Gardens Assisted Living for his care. You will be missed, we as a family will have to find in ourselves the love and support you gave to all of us to keep going.
Visitation at 11am, Tuesday May 9, 2017 at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco followed by Funeral Services and Interment at Wasco Memorial Park.
