Obituary for Connie Bernal Montemayor

Connie Montemayor, a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and longtime Wasco resident passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2017 at her home. She was 82.
Connie Bernal Montemayor was born in Wasco, California on August 11, 1935 to Eduardo C. and Maria (Coria) Bernal. She attended St. Johns Catholic School from 1940-1949 and graduated from her alma mater, Wasco Union High School in 1953. She married Hector Montemayor in 1962 and together they raised their two sons Paul and Tony in Wasco.…
Connie loved her family and serving the community. She worked at the Wasco Housing Authority for 42 years. For over four decades, she welcomed new families to Wascos Labor Camp with a warm smile and compassionate heart.
She was always proud of her immediate and extended family you would find her spending time with family on a daily basis. She would remember birthdays and call just to remind you how much you were loved. She valued her time with her beautiful grandchildren and daughters-in-law.
Connie was a devout Catholic. She spent time teaching Catechism at St. Johns, praying the rosary, and was a member of the Guadalupanos Society. Her devotion to the faith also lead her to see her favorite Pope John Paul II in Monterey California. She also traveled to Germany to see Pope Benedict.
She was extremely proud of her family and loved them with abundance. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Hector; son Paul (and daughter in law Sophie); and son Anthony (and daughter in law Alicia); grandchildren Haley, Grace, and Vincent Montemayor; brother Tony Bernal (and sister in law Connie). Connie is preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Maria Bernal; brothers Edwardo, Pasqual (Elena) and Modesto (Mary) Bernal; sisters Cecilia (Joe) Villarreal, Rosie (Pete) Olvera and Nelly (Joe) Serda; nephew Benjamin Bernal; niece Ernestine Villarreal
Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, November 13, 2017 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10am at St. Johns Catholic Church officiated by Fr. Raul A. Sanchez Flores. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
