Obituary for Alice M. Wilson

Alice Wilson was born on May 1, 1926 to Wesley and Elsie Schley Postlewaite in Oacoma, South Dakota. She left us on November 6, 2018 to join with our Heavenly Father and her husband, Lloyd “Ted” Wilson.

When Alice was eight years old, her family moved to Medford, Oklahoma. In high school, she was a straight-A student in high school, active in the pep squad, and a model citizen. In February 22 1945, Alice married Ted Wilson, the love of her life.

After Ted left the service, he… and Alice lived in Wakita, OK where their first child, Lenore “Nonie” was born. Ted worked for the Adams Hardfacing company. The company expanded their business and opened a location in Shafter, CA. Given the opportunity to transfer, Ted and Alice moved to California in 1949 and eventually settled in Wasco. In the coming years, they added three sons to their family, Ted, John, and Rick. Alice worked for fifteen years at Jackson and Perkins Rose Company.

After retiring, Alice and Ted used their talents to work together to create beautiful wood crafts and furniture that they gave to their family and friends. It also gave them even more time to play bridge in tournaments and with their friends.

Alice had a servant’s heart. After the loss of her husband, Alice kept busy volunteering at the library, tutoring second graders, helping others at her church, and making 56 of her famous jeweled Christmas trees. She was always ready to help anyone who was in need. Her hobbies included reading, line-dancing, crafts, and playing cards. Alice’s strong faith sustained her throughout all her life as evidenced by her faithfulness to her daily devotional time and her regular attendance at bible study and church. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Alice is survived by her loving family: three children and their spouses, Lenore “Nonie” and Gary King, Lloyd T “Ted” and Sally Wilson, Richard and Joyce Wilson; grandchildren, Traci, Tara, Jeffrey, Sara, Christopher, and Kathleen Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ian, Alison, and Harrison; siblings, Doris Gilley and William Postlewaite. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son John Wilson, and brothers, Lyle and Frankie Postlewaite.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Friends of the Wasco Library or the Wasco Scholarship Association.
