Obituary for Porfirio 'Pilo' Salinas

Pastor Porfirio “Pilo” Salinas was born in Monterey, MX on February 6, 1942, to parents, Jose and Maria (Vasquez) Salinas. He married the love of his life, Consuelo (Maldonado) Salinas in Edinburg, TX on February 23, 1965; just a month later the couple relocated to Wasco, CA. Pilo worked in Agriculture as a laborer and mechanic. He worked at Superior Farms for a number of years, and for Darr & Pitcarin Farms until his retirement in 2000.
In 1970 Pilo came to the Lord, and remained… his faithful servant the rest of his life. He and his wife dedicated their lives to preaching the Word of God and caring for their church community in any way they could. Pilo was a patriarch of Templo Emmanuel here in Wasco; he served as President of the Men’s Ministry, and he led Sunday school classes. In his quiet time, Pilo enjoyed reading his Bible; He also had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed making others smile. Of course, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and being near his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Pilo is preceded in death by two of his sons, Esequiel and Elias. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Consuelo; and three of their sons, Eduardo, Eli and wife Christina, and Esteban and wife Cecilia; grandchildren, Peter Eracheta and Eduardo Jr. and wife Jessica, Vanessa, Jacob, Elias, Abigail and Daniel; and two great granddaughters, Esperanza and Eliyah.
