Obituary

Our Beloved mother, Julia R. Villalpando passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saurday, June 3, 2023. She was a long time resident of Wasco. Julia was the last surviving daughter of Regino and Maria Ramirez. Julia was born in Wasco on April 12, 1930 and grew up on 16th street, where she would eventually meet her late husband, Exito Villalpando. Julia was an active child and enjoyed playing baseball with her siblings and neighborhood children. She met Exito one fateful day and were soon inseparable. They cherished 66 wonderful years of marriage and proudly welcomed 6 children into their lives. Julia was a hard worker; she worked at Jackson and Perkins for many years with her sister Rosa. She met many coworkers from Wasco & Shafter. Her hard work and dedication to her family did not end when Julia retired. Exito and Julia loved taking care of all their Wasco grandchildren after retirement. They loved all their grandchildren. Julia was an active baseball fan who cheered for the local Wasco baseball team and the Los Angeles Dodgers as well. Julia and Exito were active church members of St. Johns, where they would help at the thrift store. Julia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great- great grandmother. She would ask her children, “How are you doing?” She loved her children until the end.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Miguel) Ortiz, Theresa (Max) Alvarez; sons, Hector Villalpando, David (Emily) Villalpando, Danny (Robin) Villalpando; daughter-in- law, Mary Helen Villalpando, 26 grandchildren, many great- grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Exito Villapando; son, Samuel R. Villalpando; parents, Regino Ramirez and Maria Jaimes Ramirez; sisters, Ruth Dominguez, Rosa Perez, Alice Reaza, Anita Ramirez; brothers, Richard Ramirez, George Ramirez, and David Ramirez.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Max and Theresa Alvarez for the 24 hour care they provided to Julia. A thank you to all the relatives from out of town that traveled from San Jose and Fresno to pay their respects. Words cannot express the deep gratitude that we have for everyone that prayed and continue to pray for our family during this time. Mom’s prayers were answered on June 3, 2023 at 7:05am when she finally went home with our father, Exito; our brother Sammy; her favorite sister, Rosa and her siblings.
