Manuel "Manny" Jess Munoz was born on September 23, 1960 in Wasco, California to Manuel S. Munoz and Maria Angela Munoz. Manny was 52 years old when he passed away in Bakersfield California on July 2, 2013. Manny worked over 30 years for Aaron's Lumber and Wattenbarger Lumber in Bakersfield as a Truck Driver and Lumber and Brick Hauler. He graduated from Wasco High School in 1979 and was named All American in baseball his sophomore year. He also played two years of baseball for Porterville College. Manny was a devoted friend and family member to all that knew him well. He had deep family values and whether you were a family member or a close friend that needed help, he was always there to help you. Everyone that knew Manny, knew him for his big smile, contagious laugh, and his short funny jokes that would always bring a smile to your face. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed watching his siblings, nieces, and nephews play sports, and he was also a loyal Jets and Dodgers fan. Manny was preceded in death by his only daughter, Sara Munoz; his parents, Manuel Santoyo Munoz and Maria Angela Munoz of Wasco. He is survived by his three grandchildren, Joseph Bermudez, Mia Aleman, and Jonathan Manuel Munoz; 8 siblings, Delia and husband Jesse Gonzalez of Texas, Severa (Sarah) and husband Jesse Chacon of Bakersfield, Albert and wife Eleanor Munoz, Billy and wife Ana Munoz, Edward Munoz, Helen and husband Marco Orozco, Cecilia and husband Oniel Myrie, and Christina and husband Eli Salinas, all of Wasco. He also has several nieces and nephews that he loved and supported throughout his life.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, inurnment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a family member or Peters Funeral Home to help the family with final expenses.
