Lupe Acosta Vasquez was born November 18, 1937 in Bakersfield, California. He was married to his beloved wife and best friend Silveria Vasquez for 49 years. They were married in Corcoran, California and raised two children. His family describes him with two words of "unconditional love." He loved his family and was a great example of a hard working individual. His love for driving led him to work for B&N Trucking for 20 years and up to his illness he loved to drive with his wife and his dog, Poht, to see his family in Texas and Oregon. His driving also led him to never miss an event involving their grandchildren. With six grandchildren, their time was spent at events such as soccer, baseball, softball, football, dance recitals, graduations, and religious sacraments. The grandkids could always count on Grandpa to bring them an ice chest full of Gatorade and water to ensure they performed their best. He was their biggest fan and blessed with such a thunderous voice that everyone knew who Grandpa was. He always looked forward to all of the many family gatherings especially on Christmas Eve for the annual tamale feast. Lupe never knew a stranger and had a way to connect with everyone he encountered. Lupe is survived by his wife, Silveria Vasquez; their son Martin Vasquez, and wife, Debra; their daughter Elizabeth Arias and husband, Candelario; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews who he also considered his children. Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, September 25 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco for Lupe Acosta Vasquez, age 75, who passed away September 20, 2012 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 26 at 10am at St. John's Church. Fr. John Fluetsch will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
