Obituary for Larry Dean Willingham

Larry Dean Willingham was born January 2, 1949 in Bakersfield, California to James and Lorene (Kitchen) Willingham. He was a life-long resident of Wasco attending Wasco elementary schools and Wasco Union High School. He worked with his uncle Leonard in recycling until his uncle passed away. Larry loved fishing, going to the aqueduct or Lost Hills whenever possible. He also loved camping and a favorite pastime was playing dominoes. One time Larry and the family set a record by playing two days… straight, only stopping long enough to eat meals.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Terra Ruth Ashbrook of Bakersfield; brother, James Henry Willingham, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Oregon; sister, Joyce Stallman and husband Robert of Wasco; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Leora and Nellie and her husband Leonard.
A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held, Saturday, August 25, at 1pm at Wasco Memorial Park. Pastor Dean Long of the Shafter Freewill Baptist Church will officiate and interment will follow. A visitation will be held Friday, August 24, from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
