Obituary

Jose Eduardo Vargas was born November 14, 1939 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico one of five children born to Concepcion (Martinez) and Miguel Vargas. At the age of 18 he left his family in Puerto Rico to work in Arizona and then he moved to California. In Arizona he met the love of his life Sandra (Tamayo) Vargas, they got married on April 4, 1970 and later they moved to Wasco where they raised their family. Jose worked as a field foreman for Jackson and Perkins which later became Bear Creek Production retiring after 49 years of service. Jose enjoyed raising his children and coaching Little League as they grew up. He enjoyed watching sports, baseball, basketball and football; rooting for the Pirates and Steelers. After retiring he enjoyed working in his yard, casino trips with friends, enjoying BBQ’s with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Jose is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra; sons, Jose Vargas, Jr. and wife Andrea of Bakersfield, Gerardo Vargas and wife Erika of Bakersfield, Leonard Vargas and wife Alma of Wasco; daughter, Christina and husband David Villalpando of Wasco; grandchildren, Alyssa, Nathan, Ayden, Dominic, Ryan, Jaycob, Katheryn and Joseph; brothers, Miguel Vargas, Luis Vargas and Ramon Vargas, all of Puerto Rico; and sister, Esther Estremera of Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rosary and Mass will be Friday, January 6, at 1pm at St. John’s Church for Jose Eduardo Vargas, age 72, of Wasco who passed away January 4, 2012 in Bakersfield. Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home.
