Obituary for Felipa Loza Mercado

Felipa Mercado of Wasco, California passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013. She was born in Villa Obregon Jalisco, Mexico to Sabino and Micaela Loza. She was united in marriage to Agustin R. Mercado on September 26, 1959. She was employed by Jackson & Perkins for 41 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting with family, knitting and working in her garden which was always full of beautiful plants and flowers. Summing up the life of a woman that only spoke when she had something to insightful… say, ironically brings about a novel length list of compliments and memories. What Felipa was defined by most, and most importantly left behind was love. She was a sterling example of what a woman should be, a graceful presence, a soft touch, quiet generosity, unwavering support and breath taking beauty in her character and expression. She was a loyal wife, a loving mother and grand-mother a beloved mother-in-law. Her family was blessed to have had her in their lives. Most people live on the memories that they leave behind, but a person like her also live on the ever present examples they set for those that look to them for direction. She will be desperately missed and never forgotten. She is survived by her husband, Agustin R. Mercado of Wasco, California; her 6 children, Bertha (David) Singleton of Bakersfield, Humberto (Jeanette) Mercado of Wasco, Hugo (Elena) Mercado of Bakersfield, Josi (Victor) Sanchez of Bakersfield and Elizabeth (Jose) Zamora of Bakersfield. She was the beloved grandmother to Alex, Cassie and Matthew Singleton, Adrian and Erica Mercado, David and Sarah Mercado, Brianna, Kristina and Lucas Sanchez and Diego, Sofia and Isaac Zamora. She was the great grandmother to Cooper Solf. All of whom will miss her terribly. Felipa Mercado is preceded in death by her parents, Sabino and Micaela Loza; brother, Pablo and her daughter Josefina Mercado. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Peters Funeral Home at 6pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013 for Felipa Mercado, age 71, of Wasco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2pm. Father Lucas Azpericueta will officiate and Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
