Obituary for Betty Joann Perryman

Betty Perryman, formerly of Wasco, died peacefully in her sleep September 16, 2017 in Lakewood, CO. She was 7 days from celebrating her 93rd birthday.

Betty was a resident of Wasco since age 13 when her parents moved to California from Texas. She attended Wasco Union High School and graduated in 1944. As a young woman, she worked several years at Janzens Drug Store on 7th Street.

In 1946 Betty married another Wasco High grad, Hugh Perryman, who preceded her in death in 2008.… Throughout their life together Betty and Hugh were involved in activities with family and friendsparticularly supporting their daughter, Beckys, academics and activities throughout her school years. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Canada and spending time with their grandchildren.

Betty was an active member of what is now Grace Community Church and remained a member of that congregation even after moving to Colorado in 2010 to be near her daughter. She supported the gamut of church activities through many hours of volunteer service spanning more than 60 years.
Earlier this year she was honored by the Alzheimers Association when her watercolor painting was selected from more than 1,500 paintings in the Memories in the Making program. Selected art is then framed and auctioned at a fund-raiser to support Alzheimers research.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Garber-Godi and husband Don Godi; her grandson TJ Garber and wife Teralynn and their children Dylan and Sierra Lynn; her granddaughter Leanne Pace and husband Bert Pace.
