Obituary for Betty Jo Ingalls

Betty Jo Ingalls was born September 16, 1931 in Allen, Oklahoma; one of 10 children born to Roger Tenneth Smith and Nellie Evelyn (nee Snow) Smith. She attended elementary and high school in Allen. She met Donald Eugene Ingalls and they married August 26, 1950 in Benton, Arkansas. They moved to California when Donald gained employment in the Kern County oil fields. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and cooking; the family favorite was her coconut cream pie and chocolate pie which always… garnered high bids at the Wasco Woman’s Club auctions. Another hobby was knitting and she put her talents to use as a member of the Happy Hookers knitting club of Wasco. Betty loved Wasco and was active in many activities. She attended Grace Community Church and was a long-time member of the Wasco Woman’s Club, where she served as President from 2002 to 2004, was currently a Trustee and served on the Auction, Bingo, Relay for Life and Rose Queen committees.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald who passed away December 20, 1988; her parents and five siblings, Natalie Brown, L.B. Smith, Sue McMasters, Darlene Gabbard and Elwanda Hefley. She is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn Hughes (Terry) of Wasco, Sandy Fahsbender (Jeff) of Bakersfield, and Donna Ward (David) of Wasco; brothers, Delbert Smith of Arkansas, Dale Smith and Johnny Dean Smith of Oklahoma; and sister, Genevia Caruthers of Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; Nicole Hightower (John) and their children Adam and Madi; Tanya Gutierrez ( Matthew) and their children, Casey, Christopher and Mitchell; Vanessa Hudson (Jeff) and their children McKenzie and Rylan; Justin Fahsbender (Leina) and their children, Oliver and Atta; Erica Marin (John) and their children Cooper and Leila; and Brandon Ward (Tatiana).
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 5, at 10am at Grace Community Church, Wasco for Betty Jo Ingalls, age 85, of Wasco who passed away September 30, 2016 in Bakersfield after a short illness. Pastor Dave Bocker will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 4 at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco from 4pm to 8pm.
