Obituary

Maria De Las Mercedes Lara

Our wonderful mother & matriarch Maria de las Mercedes Rangel De Leon de Lara died on 9/7/2021 at Bakersfield, California after battling many medical problems.
Mercedes was born in San Miguel de los Aguirre, Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Her parents are Gregorio Rangel Aguirre & Maurilia De Leon Garcez. She emigrated to the USA in the 1970's and settled in Wasco, California in 1979. She worked as a farm laborer until she could not physically do it anymore. Her last job was working in the rose fields around Wasco. She was a great example of a great work ethic.
Mercedes is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ysidro Lara Obregon (son of Refugio Lara Loera and Juana Obregon Mendoza) and her son Juan Jose Lara.
Mercedes & Ysidro raised a family of 10 children under very difficult circumstances. She would say, her greatest accomplishment was raising her family; she was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Mercedes is survived by her sons: Severiano, Ruperto, Mariano, & Julian and her daughters: Graciela, Bertha, Fidelia, Mercedes, & Ysidra. She leaves a huge family legacy of 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
In summary, our mother is a great example of LOVE, KINDNESS, & RESPECT. Throughout her life she showed unconditional love to all her family, even under difficult circumstances. She would never give up on her children and always fought to ensure they were taken care of. Many of her friends describe her as a very kind person. Being kind was second nature to her. Mom lived by the saying, "Treat others as you would like to be treated." To her, respect was the key to any successful relationship.
Rest in peace MOM. A huge void was created in our lives when you left us. We are comforted by knowing you are not in pain and reunited with your beloved husband. We will honor your memory by continuing to live lives full of LOVE, KINDNESS, & RESPECT.
