Obituary for Clifton M. Hale

Clifton M. Hale was born May 7, 1922 in Bean, Oklahoma to Joel and Ida (King) Hale. The family moved to Wasco in the 1930’s and Clifton graduated from Wasco High School with the Class of 1940. Clifton went on to attend Taft College before entering the military. Clifton enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 serving during World War II and earning his honorable discharge in 1945. Clifton and Janice Manzer were married October 17, 1944 by proxy while he was serving in the Pacific Theater. Clifton began… his long career as a salesman and field rep for Irrigation Supply Company and retired from Farm Pump & Irrigation. He was an avid golfer in his younger years and also enjoyed watching sports on TV. He was a member of the Wasco Exchange Club, Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite. Clifton also served on the Wasco Housing Authority and was a member of the former First Congregational Church. His wife, Janice who passed away in 1993, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings, and daughter, Kathryn Louise Leon who passed away in 2006.
His is survived by his wife of 7 years, Ellen (Ursery-Crockett) Hale; son, John Hale and wife, Lori of Bakersfield; daughters, Diane Burgess of Morgan Hill, and Nancy Mikkelson of Wasco; stepdaughter, Deborah Crockett; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Clifton passed away December 19, 2007 at home in Wasco with his family at his side. At his request no services will be held. Private interment will be at Wasco Memorial Park.
