Obituary for Betty Ann Willhite
Betty Ann Willhite February 21, 1937 – September 29, 2015 Betty was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to Clifford and Kathleen Stephenson. She was the oldest of three children, one brother Jim, and one sister Carol. At an early age she and her family moved to Wasco, California where she grew up. She attended local schools and graduated from Wasco High School with the Class of 1955. Betty married on December 31, 1954 to David C. Willhite and for over 60 years she has been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother… and great-grandmother. At the time of their marriage, her husband was serving in the U.S. Army and was transferred to Germany. Later she joined him there. They returned to Wasco and then later settled in Bakersfield. She worked most of her life in the medical field as a medical biller/accounts payable clerk. The last approximately 20 years with Hall Ambulance Service, where she retired. Betty and David had four sons, Randy (Mickey), Buck (Dru), Scott (Debbie), and Mark. Later in life they adopted a daughter, Tammy. They were blessed with 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, David; four sons, Randy, Buck, Scott and Mark; daughter, Tammy; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Gunter; and sister-in-law, Lou Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Kathleen; father and mother-in-law, Vernie and Mable Willhite; brother, Jim Stephenson; sister-in-law Ruby Carter; and brother-in-law, Terry Gunter. Betty was a member of the L.D.S. Church, Brimhall Ward. The family would like to thank them for their love, prayers, and support for her. Also, they would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Nursing Home for her care. A big thank you to Harvey Hall and staff for all their help, we as a family can’t thank you enough. You will be missed, we as a family will have to find the glue you provided to keep us together. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5 at 11am at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco for Betty Ann Willhite, age 78 of Bakersfield, who passed away September 29, 2015 in Bakersfield. Bishop Alan Christensen will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Monday, October 5 beginning at 9am until service time.
